Snow on the Hoh

« Topic Start: November 06, 2005, 06:39:32 PM »

What do you do while waiting for the rivers to drop after last weeks rain? .....Go fishing of course! Grin

I ventured out to an OP stream I know that hosts decent returns of wild coho. It's still a little early for them in this system, but I was impressed with the numbers of fish I spotted. They were very spooky in the clear water, but I managed to twitch a few out of a couple holes, including one that followed my jig well over thirty feet before it inhaled it right below my perch on a rock ledge! Watching this was very cool.  I landed two that were around 6 - 7 pounds apiece, and one crimson hooknose buck that was around 12 - 13. Here are a couple of quick photos.

Things should be picking up as the other rivers begin drop. Good Luck!

Nice work Brian.  I guess John missed out.  I would have liked to go, but I think I have the cold from hell.  I came home from 2 soccer games yesturday, and went to bed at 5:00.  Layed around all day, and am starting to feel a little better.  Glad to see you got out, and found a few coho to party with.

Way to grind out some fish, B Mac...I think now we just need to pray that the pineapple express doesn't hit this week and melt all that early snow.  Not only would the floods curtail our fishing, but they'd also be devastating to all the new redds.

I don't know if you guys got a look at the Olympics today, but there's a bunch of snow up there. The snow level was just above where I started fishing today, ...it felt like winter up there let me tell ya fellas! Shocked Shocked A pinnapple express would not be a good thing right now!  Angry Angry
