So Fishcaddie (Bruce), Littlefish(Jeff), Jonnyhook, and I (I must need a nickname!) took a road trip yesterday to one of our favorite haunts.  My main goal was to get Jon into a fish, then Jeff, then myself, and have a good time.  But the best laid plans, sorta like when Brian took Bruce and I out for summer steelheading and he got all the fish!

With that setup in mind, I was fishing up through some water between "good" holes just to stay busy while I let the other guys work that water and... fish on!  Of course Jonnyhook is trained, similar to Pavlov's dogs, that when that cry goes up from dad, the fun's on laugh laugh laugh  He came sprinting downstream with his chest waders and currently too big feet to "help" the old guy land this 6 lb hatchery buck!

A little further upstream, I followed Jeff down through some nice water that didn't yield a fish, but looked so good we tossed our jigs on the way back up.  He snagged up, and while re-tying (sound familiar, Brian?) I made a couple of casts in front of him.  Yep, you guessed it, fish on!  Here comes Jon Grin  I love these photos:

After getting ribbed by fishing companions we went up to yet another spot.  While the "good" water was again being frothed by my companions, I was just looking to not stand around with my thumb in my ear (my dad used to say that to me all time growing up!!!), I cast into a little riffle that was probably 18 inches deep and my main goal was to find something to do where the water was at least deep enough to NOT get snagged.  Bobber down Shocked Roll Eyes.  Another cookie cutter buck:

And yes, Jon landed this one, too!  Great day!  Nice sunshine, but my companions were less than enthused by my guiding capabilities.  I guess I'll have to invite them to the bbq!!!  It was cold in bed of the truck on the way back, however laugh

Now that's fishing Jeff, gotta love that in between water Wink

You've been doing well this winter so far, I haven't left my local water so I'm still batting the Big Goose Egg Huh

Way to keep Jon into the sport, he's gotta be having a blast, your other buddies are probably going to leave you behind next time so they can have a shot at these fish laugh

Wow, Jeff, great job again. great

I gotta say, in the couple years I've watched you post, you've gotten a lot better at catching these fish. It's getting to the point where I'm almost expecting to see multiple fish every time I bring up one of your reports. And you hand the rod off to Jon now, but the enjoyment he's getting out of it will be what propels him past you in a couple years. Just ask my dad. He'll warn you.  Grin
