I prefer to find my own fish...way more satisfying.  It used to be fun to outfish all the crackers in the meat hole...but then I grew up.

Hike the extra half hour, drive the extra hour, fish only mid-week...whatever it takes so you can be here:

Interesting comments.

Guess I'll have to join the "go for the experience" guys as I simply will not stand in a meat line with 20 guys who have to syncronize their casting. Fortunately, the more guys that stack up in those places, the easier it is to find solitude elsewhere. I'd rather catch one steelhead away from a crowd than five in one. I try to fish the edges of the season and the non-weekend days of the week for just that reason also, along with what Brian calls the 'tween water. If all there were availabe were the hatchery holes I'd go find something else to do.

I like to get away from the crowds and don't mind hiking 10 minutes or longer to get to a sweet spot.  Just being outdoors away from work is therapy.  The fish are a bonus.

How true. I love being outdoors. I always like to hike the extra distance to see what is around the next bend and if possible fish while doing it. I have found a lot of great water that way.
