I just wanted to say hi to everyone, and introduce myself.  I Moved to washington a couple years ago, and I have read a lot about steelhead fishing, I haven't been but a couple of times with no success, but from what I have read that is normal.  I like this site, it has a lot of information.  Hopefully soon I will have some pictures to share of some nice winter steelhead.

Welcome fishmaniac.  Each time I walk to bank with someone from this site I learn new things and ways to fish.

Welcome to our little corner of the steelheading world. When I saw the subject line I was thinking to myself, "finally, a mature steelhead fisherman"  laugh laugh  I agree with what bugs said,... all good steelheaders are learning something new on every trip to the river. I know I am. Take advantage of the wealth of knowledge our members possess, and go fishing with any of them if you get the chance.

I learn something new everyday....best thing I ever did was to tag along w/ some guys who were better at this game than myself.  Just observe and ask questions....then put in your time!

What they said!  Welcome.  Go to the main page - click the "Steelhead notebook" button above - read the techniques, get the resources, check out the rivers, etc.  Then bug the members for a trip to tag along!

Welcome, when I first started a couple of buddies said that it would take an average of 7 years for a beginner to catch his first steelhead. Luckily it didn't take me that long maybe 2, hopefully it won't take you that long either.

Yup it can take awhile to get the hang of it. You are definatley on the right track by reading up as much info as possible. The process of learning is shortened considerably if you can find a good steelheader to mentor you. You will learn more in one day with a good steelheader than months on your own. Hope you find a few when the water drops.
Good luck, jiggy
