We are looking for wadable streams to fish for steelhead in the Portland, Oregon area the second weekend in February. We have limited time (3 days) and would prefer to not spend a lot of time searching rivers.  We have been told that the Wilson is a good option and would like to have 2-3 rivers to stop and try.

Most of our steelhead fishing experience is Lake Superior and Lake Michigan tributaries.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Glad to see you register on the forum here Mark. The other rivers I know of in the Portland area are the Clackamas and the Sandy. They both have decent numbers of winter runs iin them. How about a couple of you guys from down south helping these guys out. Grin

Hi Mark

By February the Wilson should have a good amount of fish present.  Nearby is the Trask and Kilchis rivers.  Both of these rivers will be in full swing too.  The Wilson will have brats and also a fair amount of natives present.

Closer to Portland there is the Sandy and Clackamas.  The lower Sandy is bank friendly and has several miles of fishable water.

Here is some contact information for the latest fish reports, bait, etc.
