We probably had about the worst float fish wise today as has been seen in a long time by our two boat crew on the Skagit! Cold, about 8" of snow on the ground and gin clear flow. Lots of silvers still caging around but non- bitng as the rule of the day. Highlights of the trip were my early morning, unintentional exit of the highway at about 45 mph by way of snot covered pavement and the riverside Tri-tip BBQ. After some signifigant snow melt and floury higher water in the next couple of days we should be seeing the first of the natives. Sounds like some others had better success but the same cold in common.          Joe

Hopefully no damage came out of your slide of the Hwy.  Sorry fishing stunk but, as you mentioned, it's transition time and the warmer temps and the rising rivers should start to bring the big boys in.

There are a few kinds of steelhead fishing; fly, float, drift, spoon, spinner, plugs, boondoggin, bobberdoggin,.... and then there is float fishing in 18\" of water.  Put that in your pipe and smoke it! Afro

At least you were skunked on the Skagit and not some other river.  For me it dosent get any better than just being on the Skagit.  Its an amazing river!!
There should be some fish pushing up during this rain.  Hopefully the freezing level dosent go too high, those Skagit folks have seen enough flooding this season.
