Snow on the Hoh

WWW
« Topic Start: January 17, 2005, 09:25:25 PM »

Here are a few ideas of things to do while waiting for the rivers to drop back into shape. Feel free to add to this list:
  • Clean and lube all of  your reels(I just finished doing this)
  • Respool fresh line on your reels(might want to go heavier for the big nates that will be showing up)
  • Tie leaders
  • Rig up some pink worms for the nates!
  • Fix your leaky waders
  • Read or re-read Herzogs spoon fishing book(I do this several times each winter)
  • Start planning where to go when the rivers drop
  • Take care of all your honey-do's so you can go fishing when they drop
  • Clean & repack your driftboat trailer bearings

Let's hear some others! Grin

---Go to Sportco and drop a C note
---Pour lot of lead
---Drill out about 1000 beads (yes 4 zero's)
---tie a bunch of rabbit jigs for summer
---replenish your winter Jigs
---Go to Sportco and drop another C note
---Mount Rod holders in the boat

---Hang with the Family so I can fish when the rivers drop.

Man, those lists remind me of some stuff I need to do.  I did pick up some stuff today to repair my leaky waders.  Dean, the rabbit jigs will work just fine for winter-runs.  I think I need to repack my bearings and tie up some heavy duty stuff for the coast.  Why drill out beads, Fish has us covered. idiot

There are a few kinds of steelhead fishing; fly, float, drift, spoon, spinner, plugs, boondoggin, bobberdoggin,.... and then there is float fishing in 18\" of water.  Put that in your pipe and smoke it! Afro

How about a boat ride, I just noticed that the Queets is only flowing at 69,000 CFS.  That could be fun!

I have an idea, but I'll keep it off the internet in case any kids are reading this...Grin...you know...like Casey.  Grin Grin  But seriously, I'm spending some time looking at the data from last year's pics and reading my fishing logs.  Heck, I might even get desperate enough to re-read a certain book that's been sitting on my desk for a couple years. What rain?? Huh

It's been dry down here until today. Our rivers are at and below summer level.  Undecided Between the late returning broodstock program which is all over Oregon now and the fact that SoCal has been getting all our rain from the messed up Jet Stream, it has been somewhat slow. One good rain should light things up though.

Watch the graphs(Hey I think the river's dropping) Grin

Hit your buddies up for freshly poured jigheads.

Do your income tax( Naw, I gotta pay)

Change the oil in the fishinmobile ( Would hate to break down on the way out to the coast when the rivers drop)

Go to shopping detox (I got drug around to all of the shops at Caeser's Palace last weekend in Vegas by my wife) What is it that women see in that anyway? Huh
