I know a few of you use Flourocarbon for leaders. I've used it a little bit recently, but figure it will probably be more useful for summer fishing.

No, I didn't test it, but there are some guys who did and they printed up the data so that you can really compare the flouros head to head. This is a very informative review.

Vanish and Maxima fluorocarbons both are terrible.  Both fray badly.  I've been told that Seagar and P-Line are the best.  I've also been told that Cabela's is actually from Seagar...which is consistent with the data on Zonker's link.

Good stuff except for the fact that none of the breaking tests seem to use knot strength to determine overall strength.  When it comes to how good or practical a line is for fishing, I would think how strong its knots will hold up to be a huge factor.  As we know, there are strong lines out there but they dont knot well and with floro there is the burn factor with knots.  I have heard good things about seaguar.  In fact that is the stuff Dennis Dickson uses and I'm sure he knows a thing or two about fishing.

There are a few kinds of steelhead fishing; fly, float, drift, spoon, spinner, plugs, boondoggin, bobberdoggin,.... and then there is float fishing in 18\" of water.  Put that in your pipe and smoke it! Afro

Good points about knot strengh, Mike. How well the material takes and sets knots is definitely a factor left out. Kinda wish there were a followup using the same knot tied by the same fisherman on each brand, then run the test.

By the way, did you notice the "Visibility Test" comments in the test results? Is it an elaborate hoax? Grin

My 2c:

Guides I've fished with in the past use P-line and the Fenwick brand for Flourocarbon.
