I finally did it and subscribed to Steelhead Notebook. Why? Because this is a site I visit again and again. I find being the old curmudgeon that I am, about 80 percent of the stuff available on the internet is pure trash. It really seems like just another way to get advertisements into our homes mostly for porn, gambling or questionable financial transactions.
I love Steelhead fishing. I spend every free moment fishing, tying flies or talking about it with like minded fisherman. When I stumbled across this site I was looking for information about a specific river and got the Rivers section of the site. As I explored farther and read the threads I was impressed with the consistent quality of the posts and the advice offered to other fisherman.
Mostly what impresses me about this site is the consistently positive tone in the vast majority of threads. Some sites seem devoted to blaming and complaining about everything that impacts our sport with very little in the way of constructive engagement.
I enjoy reading all of your posts and look forward to meeting more of you on the water.
Keep up the great work Brian and al, love this site.
Steve.

While I would invite all too sign up and become a subscribing member, there is a section of this site that is "members only". BigJim is speaking of the gentleman's lounge that is only accessed with permission by the "power elite" of this site. This secret realm of steelheadings finest holds GPS coordinates for all of Brians favorite spots complete with a "how to"  200 page color pamphlet. It also includes legal representation by Bugnuts, and private jig tying lessons by Flyfishy, free spinners and jigs by Mark & Joe. It really is an incredible part of the site that can be yours for the small one time price of 199.99. laugh laugh laugh

You guys crack me up!  laugh laugh laugh

Here is the deal guys. There is a members only forum. Anyone who has supported this site financially has been granted access. There are bits of information shared here that may not ever make it to the main forum, but in all reality it is just a spot where the regulars hang out. I do occasionally post free give aways and such(in fact, I think I'm overdue in this area), but really it is just my way of showing appreciation to those that continue to make this site what it is. As you may have noticed we do not have an overload of advertising on the site. We have a few dedicated sponsors who have been selected carefully, but other than that this site is soley supported by the hard work of the moderators and by generous contributions from a few members. In no way does this site generate enough revenue for me to retire early, and I did not create this site as a money making venture. If any of you are really curious as to what goes on in the members only forum, e-mail or PM me and I will grant you a limited access pass for a few days so you can check it out. .......Just be sure not to tell anyone what you read in there! Wink  laugh

I appreciate everyone who has supported this site, and look forward to providing all of you a relaxing, enjoyable atmosphere to talk steelheading for a long, long time to come......Brian Grin

There are a few kinds of steelhead fishing; fly, float, drift, spoon, spinner, plugs, boondoggin, bobberdoggin,.... and then there is float fishing in 18\" of water.  Put that in your pipe and smoke it! Afro
