if you like fishing with 500 of your closest buddies it's probably worth it.  i probably won't ever fish the lower river for winter runs again after seeing what it was like in the last few weeks.

good god man! Steelie catching has been consistent there the last 2 weeks throughout the 'Nooch but extremely crowded... unless you are into hiking, barbless hooks/no bait, and are good with map & GPS.

thus, the reason i said i probably won't fish the lower river laugh having to do some legwork scares a lot of people away, but it's worth it up there!

Anybody tried the upper float this year?  I thought it might be less crowded (maybe??).  Know how long the float is?  I have floated the portion from the white bridge to Black Creek the last few weeks and counted 16 drift boats each time.  My guess is I even missed a few.

Floated from 7400 to white bridge on 1/21, and went 2 for 4, one hatchery one native. It was very crowded 20 plus boats. I believe that float is some where around fifteen miles from what I've been told. We put in at 7:00 am and took out around 4:00 pm so there isn't much time to stop and work a stretch over very hard, this time of year with limited daylight.

My buddy lives on the upper wynoochee and we have seen alot of drift boats! one time there were 4 drift boats in 5 muinets, one right after another. so yeha I gusse and my principal lives on the wynooche as well and he said that they were just slaying the steelies.  evil Cheesy so yeah thanks what seems to be the most productive at catching steelies on the nooche?

If I'm not online, check the river...

There's still some good (relatively) untapped water on the nooch.  GPS and some legwork can help you stay out of the crowds.  Get a good map of the area - there's places where there's nothing between the road and river but a short section of woods, but it's easy to get turned around (hence the GPS).  It's generally best to get above the boats if you're not in one!

I was out on the river once this year and wont go back because of the pressure. Although a good hike sounds interesting  Grin

I fished yesterday in a driftboat and we went 0 for 0.  Talked to 6 other boats and all were skunked.  Tribal nets are in 5 days a week and it probably isn't helping.

yeah sounds like it has slowed down quite a bit around here lately haven't heard anything about the rivers around here i generaly fish to the river across teh street form my house haha  laugh it seems to be teh bigest producer of fish for me to catch haha but they are all native i belive have seen a few brats every now and again but mostly native they are loads of fun to catch. i fish east hoquiam river not alot of people to fight with to fish cause  it is all on private property and i get to fish it is cuase i have realitave who let my fish on their property. other than that there isn't really a public place to fish. be careful to watch for posted land.  in grays harbor county i think there's more no tresspassing signs than people who live there.  really burns me seeing them posted on otherwise accessable hillsides with 50' between the road and the river where nobody could build a house or do anything with the land.

Can't hardly blame the landowners. I'm sure their tired of cleaning up all the litter deposited by some of the inconsiderate fisherman.

funny you say that, as that being the land where people post their front lawns, and often have enough garbage in their own yard to start a city dump!
