Has anyone ever used a Matzuo Jig hook.  I have been using eagle claw 630 hooks on my poured jigs.  The Matzuo jig hook claims to be a fine wire hook that is stronger because of the sickle design. I don't want to buy 100 hooks to find out that I am losing fish because the hook has straightened. rvrfisher has sickle hooks that look strong but I am not sure if they are the Matzuo brand.  Thank you for any help.

The Rvrfshr jig hooks are indeed Matzuo's, and you would need about 57 pound test to straighten them out...if you usually use the Eagle Claw jig hooks, you will be extraordinarily happy with the Matzuo stickers.

What he said. I have them as well, and they are very strong.

SG,

Yes our jig hooks are Matzuo Sickle's but not the standard fine wire that Cabela's, Netcraft and Barlow's sell. Those or the ones on ebay are a #149 and the one we use is a #133. We also have some new OEM hooks they are currently working on for us with a shorter shank and thicker wire diameter per each size respectively. If you would like to see the difference between the #149 and #133 PM me.

I used the Matzuo sickle jig hooks this past year and have been very impressed with them.

Joe i'd be interested in getting some of the #133 hooks that you mentioned.  Good stuff.

I would also agree that the RVFSHR Matzuo jig hooks do not bend, they are good quality hooks. I have not used the lighter wire one's just the stock RVFSHR's. I too suspect the Matzuo's are much better than the Eagle Claw's especially when used barbless.

what is the difference between the 149 adn 133?   Is one hook stiffer or thinner diameter?
