Was wondering what a few of you guys do as far as jig storage, especially on the river.  I really like having to carry nothing but my rod so i can hike for miles while fishing, wondering if anyone has a solid idea on how to keep many jigs very handy and out of the way at the same time.  Only thing i can think of for now is to use a fly box and strap it to my waders.  Any ideas would be helpful.

I like storing my jigs in small ziplock bags.  This way they're kept dry and can easily be carried to and from the rivers.

In the last couple months I think there was a similar topic on this board.  Using the search tab might bring up some other ideas.

Sci. Ang. slotted fly box or Cliffs Bug. Barn slotted fly box (keeps those patterns from flopping around). Small Zip-Loc with : couple extra floats, film container containing tooth picks, bobber stops and lead, spare spool wrapped in a couple paper towels (for on stream emergency), small leader wheel, pliers, collapsable scissors or sharp mini knife. This along with optional beverage and food stuff fits with room to spare in a small nylon shoulder/teardrop bag purchased in the womens dept. at Target for 9 bucks. It hangs on your back out of the way for river crossing and can be spun around the front without taking it off for easy access. You don't even know it's there, (unless your carting out a hatchery fish in it or make the mistake of telling your fishing partners where you got it in which case they'll forever let you know the status of your "man purse".

I took a few of my fly boxes and converted them to jig boxes.  I like the slotted variety for fur jigs, and use the old clear plastic type for my bead patterns.  Some guys use wallets, but I prefer the good old fly box! Grin

I also went back to the fishing vest from the "fanny pack"  I'm too short, and my stuff always gets wet.  Especially when keeping up with Brian's wading shenagans.  I've never tried the "fishing purse," but I know a couple guys who are sold on them.  My old man had a fishing purse kinda contraption when I was a kid, but it said "U.S. Army" right on the green canvas.  I could probably carry that.

Shoot, don't tell my wife about purses and shoes for fishing, she'll want to go.  In that case, I'll be out at Bushwood dusting off my "goff" clubs, and having a garage sale for all my fishing stuff! Angry

I like to use film containers when I'm banking it. Just a few to seperate the basic colors. I have one tp put the wet ones in, till I get home (don't forget). I just find this easy.
