Anybody familiar with this line for float fishing? Its a floating mono as I understand it. Very popular among pinners (centerpin reel users) I'm told. http://www.questoutdoors.net/gear/preview/siglonf/Here is some discussion about the stuff: http://www.questoutdoors.net/phpBB2/about357.html&highlight=siglonI was just on the Float Fishing Specialties Website and they sell it out of New York for $9.95 plus shipping for 300 Yards. Diameter is a little thinner than other mono. Comes in flourescent orange and pink. http://www.float-fishing-specialties.com/item.jhtml?UCIDs=1234959%7C1235256&PRID=1401966I'll wait to see if anyone has comments, then I think I'll order some and try it. Supposed to be able to use a good ol' blood knot or surgeon's knot between it and standard mono. zonker

~Mike~ There are a few kinds of steelhead fishing; fly, float, drift, spoon, spinner, plugs, boondoggin, bobberdoggin,.... and then there is float fishing in 18\" of water. Put that in your pipe and smoke it!

Sounds too good to be true... You guys try it out and if you like it I'll let you fill up a reel for me and I may be able to test it for you... if not, I'll stick with the PP

Shane thanks for the field test offer. I just ordered some 12# orange, but I'll let you know how it goes. Pink just seems, wrong!

Chumdog, I ordered the orange 12 # as well. I'm looking forward to trying it. Maybe its a bust but those pinners don't seem to think so. If I end up cleaning out our local river as a result of this line, filling up punch cards with hatchery fish until the ODFW refuses to sell me another, I'm not gonna tell Drifterat. zonker

Received my Siglon-F in the mail yesterday. Impressive stuff at first glance. Came off the small spool without a lot of memory. I put half of the 330 yard spool onto my baitcaster float rod/reel and hope to try it out tomorrow. So far I noticed: It is a very bright colored line. Out in the sun it lights up like fibre optics. Well, maybe that's a little bit of an exaggeration, but for visiblilty I give it a 10 out of 10 - good for float fishing. It is smaller in diameter than typical mono. The 12 lb test I ordered is .011". 12 lb Maxima Ultragreen is .013". A person used to 12 lb test UG could conceivably be very comfortable fishing 15 lb. Siglon on a baitcaster. (I'll put it on my spinning reel next and let you know how that goes.) I knotted it onto the regular clear mono backing on my Curado with a good old fashioned blood knot - something I haven't done since switching to braid. It was flexible and easy to tie and seat. In spite of my dentist's warnings since I was a teenager, I'm a line biter. Yes, I carry clippers and yes I use them sometimes, but when I'm in the zone and the fishing is good, I usually go back to biting the line off when I tie knots, etc. The Siglon bites very well and doesn't bite back. More to come as I take it fishing... zonker

Mine came today too. Now I need to play with it! I just tested it in the sink, and it does float quite nicely. Also, the diameter of 12 seems to be that of about 8# Ohhh, and it stretches. I've been missing that, playing with braid!

I took the Siglon-F fishing today. I had it on two float rods/reels - one spinning and one baitcasting. It does indeed float well. It was easy to mend, even at long distances. It was very visible - the orange showing up brightly on the overcast day. The line came off both the casting reel and the spinning reel without much memory. After a few casts there was no memory. The line straightened out nicely. It cast quite smoothly and silently. Being mono, there was no rasping sound as there is with braided line rubbing against the tip top guide. Knot tying, as I mentioned above, was simple.
While I certainly can't run down braided line for float fishing, if it proves to be as durable as the advertising says, I think Siglon-F will be my float fishing line from now on.
