I have been forgetting to post this tip for awhile.  Anyway I have used the round cork floats for a long time and like them alot except that the stopper holes can get too big to hold the stopper after repeated use.    I probably had 20-30 of these bobbers floating around so i gathered them all up and drilled new holes in the side.  Good as new now, just slightly lighter.

Nothing. Just leave the other holes as is.

The Jack-In-The-Box antenna balls work well as floats too.

I always like to put a small piece of quarter inch lead in the bottom hole.  Helps secure the line, gives you a little added weight when casting and keeps the cork riding in the upright position.  I also like to paint the top for good visibility.

Good info gentlemen.  For some reason I'm having a heck of a time trying to cast 1/8th oz. jigs with a bait casting rod & reel.  This info may help me solve this problem.

Tom,

Switch your setup for float fishing. Try this one, it will cast a country mile with your baitcaster.

I have also switched from sliding the hollow core pencil lead onto my line, to the inline weights as outlined in this tutorial from zonker:

In-line weights for float fishing

Thanks for the info Brian.  I think I got some hollow core lead around here some where.  I'll stop at the store on the way to the ZipperLip and get me some larger dink floats.

Thanks again & tight lines,

I couldn't agree more.  I've been using this technique for years and never thought to share.  Try that one tom.....

i pesonally put a drop shot lead on the tag end of my swivel,  i also use that same weight for drifting worms, if it gets snagged i loose the weight and not the rest of the gear.

yeah, good idea about the floats eric. i never thought of that. i will have to go salvage  my old floats. Grin
