Now I know many fishermen want to keep their spots secret and I truly respect this. My question is since there are so many lurkers on the internet and to be honest.... alot of nonlurkers why don't more fishermen take measures to solidify that their spot will remain secret. Even reports of widely known spots will receive an influx of people following a "good" report on a river. Background is nice and all in a photo, but it attracts fishermen. Should there be a tutorial or a thread describing good ways to show off your catch, yet still make it anonymous? Just an idea I had, more of a thought though.

i'm not usually giving away my location openly.  i figure if anyone identifies the spot i'm fishing, more power to them.

i don't show off stuff like that if it's a secret spot somebody showed me, though.

As far as the quote....cutts. It is just a line that I caught from X-Men Comics, by Wolverine. And I just put it for myself due to the point I was the best at getting drunk and creating a disaster more or less. And everything I do I try to do to the best, fishing.... not the best.

And as far as the photoshopping stuff, I just saw some pics on a different forum while SN was down, and i thought it was a great idea. Basically the picture was of the guy and his fish with this abstract background of blur. Just a cool idea for the guys out there who get worried about the pictures they put up, so they either show a close up of the head or just don't put any pictures. And as far as this whole thread, I am not saying anything about anyone...... so no one get worried or bent. chewy

 Just an idea.

Blurred back grounds are lame, even though sometimes I do it. Most of the time now I just crop out the entire back ground and leave only the fish in the pic, thats when I actually post a pic anymore.

Heres a mock blurred pic that I put up a couple of years ago. Anyone who has fished the Vedder will know this spot.

Love the boots Grin Grin Grin. Whenever I take pics for buddies while fishing we'll have the person with the fish kneeling in the water while the camera man stands. This basically cuts out all of the background details except for the water, shore line, and rocks. Or Ill do as BC Steel said and crop the pic further as to only show the fish and hands holding it if the spot has been super hot and or if I don't wanna give the spot out IF for some weird reason I feel the urge to post a pic and report.

I saw that same pic, Jim.  I've used the concept before and have a few on my old work laptop that the students did for me.  Thanks for the clarification Wink

I don't see anything wrong with "blurring" out the pic.  If I was to spend alot of time searching for a good hole to fish and came up productive, I wouldn't be blabbing it out on the web as to where, how and when I caught the fish.  Or, just turn around and take the pic from the water and with trees and such in the background, still makes a good pic for prosperity.  Not that there are many zipperlip holes left, but what is left, I'm sealing my mouth.

Just show it on the BBQ Grin
Oh wait, then people will know about my ultra-secret BBQ methods and be trying to steal my marinade recipies...

I actually mostly fish alone so I rarely ever get any pics anyways.  I wish I had pics of a few past fish, but I'm not coordinated enough to gently handle a fish, cigar, and camera all at the same time.

I don't even have a camera, but I remember Brian posting in the other topic about blurring pics,

"Sure someone may recognize the general area, but my feeling is that if someone can figure out where I am fishing by the pictures I post, then they have done their homework and put in their time."

I couldn't agree more with that statement.
