On the quest for big chrome steel

WWW
« Topic Start: May 13, 2008, 12:10:12 PM »

Strap on "mangina" that is  Grin.

"Mangina" - a device used whilst fighting Sturgeon that allows one to not bruise their pelvis from the rod butt.
Normally worn by children and woman and the odd unsuspecting adult whos friend wraps it on them(without request) mid battle with a Sturgeon.

Had a fun day fishing with Joe and Todd on the Fraser, while we didn't get into the recent double digit numbers of fish we caught a handful of decent fish and missed hooksets on as many others.

Always fun watching someone holding on while a good Sturgeon tears it up a bit, Joes fish was acrobatic and gave us some nice air time and surface displays.

Thanks to Joe and Todd for the visit and laughs and sure we'll see you guys again this fall for some antics.

Way to go men...
I remember fighting an oversize Sturgeon a few years back with the Aid of one of those gizmo's.Definitely helps.
Here is a picture of it.Right around 9 feet long if I remember correctly.Hard to believe they jump completely out of the water.....

Oops, busted with my hand in the Canadian "cookie jar" !

This was the first time I have ever sturgeon fished and I will tell you the two most imortant things learned. First, you don't want to fight one much larger than the two we are holding, and second, if you decide you want to battle up a bunch of the things... BOOK A TRIP WITH ROD ON THE FRASER ! Rod knows how to quickly get into lots of fish, is funnier than sh*t to hang out with, and without a doubt knows how to safely run a boat on the big water.

I will definitely be heading back up... but next time for the millions of salmon that fin the massive system's tribs.

Thanks to the entire Toth family and their gracious hosting of a couple of southern derelicts !

(Sorry to have missed you on this trip Oliver.)

Wow. I didn't know what to expect when I saw the title of this thread, but after seeing Joe and Todd in it, I'm not surprised they were involved.

Nice fish!
