An adipose fin is a beautiful thing!

WWW
« Topic Start: September 15, 2008, 11:45:15 AM »

Due to great demand over the past six months, we suffered a shortage of our 1/2 ounce 50/50 Gold/Silver Rvrwagglers...and for that, we apologize.

The good news is that they are back, and not only are they available in the usual 1/2 ounce size, but they are also available in 2/5 ounce and 3/8 ounce sizes, just in time for fall summer runs and salmon, enough sizes to cover most every river condition you might encounter.

We also have a limted supply of 2/5 Smooth Silver Rvrwagglers, ideal for scratching up, etching on, airbrushing, tarnishing...whatever the tinkering angler might want to do! Of course, they fish fine just the way they are, too

Those 2/5 Smooth Silver Rvrwagglers are being closed out right now on our website at $15 for a ten pack. These come with no hardware or hooks, just the spoon blanks.

We only have a handful of those 2/5 Silver Smooth left, so if you're looking for those, you better get on it...because when they are gone, they are gone!

Stay tuned for an even more expanded hardware selection in the near future...and, as always, thank you all for your support and your business, we couldn't do it without you.

just curious, why were the smooth silver spoons discontinued?  do you believe that a hammered surface creates a superior lure, or did they not sell as well?

They aren't discontinued they are selling them with just the spoons, no hardware {swivels, snaps, hook} if i read it correctly.

Kyle, we still sell smooth finish spoons, only they come in the 3/8 size...with all the changes we've been making in our lineups...all additions, with more to come...we needed to streamline some of the lines.  To that end, the 2/5 spoons are all hammered, the 3/8 spoons are all smooth (with one exception), and the 50/50's are all hammered, in all three sizes, 1/2, 2/5, and 3/8 (the one exception to the 3/8 smooth rule).

We've cleared out about half our supply of the 2/5 smooth silver spoons in the last few days, and have a couple hundred left...if you or anyone else is interested in getting some of those, now's the time...they won't be around much longer.

Fish on...

Here's more of "really" why Kyle...

I reluctantly began fishing the 50/50 more last winter and caught fish on a consistent basis with it, so much so that I found myself fishing it more than my favorite smooth 2/5 gold through season's end.

Returning to clearer flows I fully expected to go back to fishing the smooth 2/5th's, but they fished so close in action to the 1/2 oz. hammered that I felt that the only way I would fish a slightly lighter spoon again is if it had a noticeable difference in action. I had some prototype hammered 2/5th's and 3/8th's sitting around (that I had never even tried!), so I did... and liked their "wafery" action alot.

Hammered surface lures weigh slightly less than smooth of the same stated thickness, this is due to the pattern being pressed into the brass, effectively thinning out the pre-stamped sheeting. The result of a small weight loss job makes for a really lively lure, as long as the curvature is correct. (The curvature issue is why I always hated fishing hammered MorTac spoons, and why I had for many years only fished smooth.)

Story goes further as to why I wanted to keep the 3/8th's smooth though... 3/4 oz. double stack ability for the deepest boulder holes when using heavier line. Well seeing as I actually only do that about thrice a year, the 3/8 th's will be hammered now as well.

A heavier weighted 5/8 - 3/4 oz. spoon is on the horizon as well as the baby 1/4 - 1/3 oz. that I've been blabbing about for a long time now.

When all is said and done there will be three completely different size spoons in five different weights. The smallest will be 1-5/8"L X .062T , the three current at 2-1/8"L X .050,.062..072 and a larger 2-1/2"L X .072T. All will be hammered, and come in seven or eight finishes.

All conditions covered !

Wow, what a post. Those 1/4's should work real well on trout.
I have noticed that the Rvrwaggler spoon has a lot more action compared to the mortac spoons/little cleos etc: Not to mention the flash that these bad boys put out!

I'm still interested in the coming "sltfshr" products. I need some new salmon spoons.

Sqdfshr hootchies wouldn't be bad, either, while you're at it.

You guys need to make more options for the "well-rounded" angler.  laugh
