I realize this might be trivial to some, but i'm just getting into tying.  I would love to see something on tying jigs.  different styles would be great (jiggabugger, simple marabou, rabbit hare, etc)  although beggers can't be chosers.  thanx

I'd like to see a basic tutorial on how to build a spinner.

If somebody has a unique style he'd like to share, that would be cool, of course, but I'd really just like to see and overview of the standard "summer-run special." Brian's quick tarnishing tutorial reminded me--I am fully intending to build myself an arsenal of spinners by June 1st, but I haven't even ordered any components yet because I don't know what I need.

I know it's not that hard--probably easier than jig tying, in fact--but I'm sure some of you guys have got it down better than I could work it out on my own, especially within the next month.

Yes, I think a spinner tutorial would be quite timely right about now.  Grin

Thanks!

It is quite easy but there are a couple tips I can think of that can help you avoid starting over on one.  I would love to do a little tutorial and I know brian has talked about doing one, so we will have something up soon.

Now for the important advice.  If you don't own a copy of Jed Davis' spinner book then you are doing your steelheading a great injustice.  It is a absolute must on summer-run behavior.  Even if you never toss a spinner it will do you worlds of good even for a avid float fisherman like yourself.  Oh yeah, I almost forgot, get yourself a thermometer too. Wink  It also, as you might suspect, goes into great detail on building your own.

There are a few kinds of steelhead fishing; fly, float, drift, spoon, spinner, plugs, boondoggin, bobberdoggin,.... and then there is float fishing in 18\" of water.  Put that in your pipe and smoke it! Afro

Mike, let's get together this week and put this tutorial together. Will do both a short video, and a step by step tutorial with still images. Let me know when you have time and I'll swing by with my camera's!  great

I'll look at my schedule and get back to you, should be fun!  My garage looks like Jed's probably did before he quit the sport.  Shocked Grin

Well, if you guys don't mind, I'll take a few snap-shots while I'm building, this evening, and put em on here, tonight.

Brian,

I would like to see someone tie an Aero Jig. I have come close many times to tying it, but cannot tie it exact. Would love to see step by step instructions if anyone thinks they can tie one. Jeff

I'd be interested in seeing a some tips on fishing a blade under a float.  In general I am intrigued by this method, but have very little to go on.  Does this work for multiple species?  What type of water should I be looking at for this type of method?

Maybe this is a tutorial, maybe something else. Personally, I've learned at lot here on SN. I'd kinda like to know what some of the best things others have learned are. My top three are:

Braided line - Power Pro, Tufline,  I'll never use mono for main line again.

Where to find stuff - Vendors that sell unusual, or hard to find stuff for making lures and other things.

Where To Go When - This is one of the things that I had hoped to learn. Why one river is good in winter but not summer. Which rivers have hatcheries and which don't. Why a certain river is good in one month and bad in another. Good stuff.

I would like to see a session about Drano Lake, I have fished it several times and never do as well as I would at home. Its odd how I can kill'em  just 50 miles up river, but nothing there. I've seem people just pound em in mid August and early September. I copy the moves and nothing. Fishing is done differnt here at home around Tri-cities, then there I've noticed. We very rarely fish the bottom for steelhead.  Anyhow, whats the trick somebody?
