Snow on the Hoh

« Topic Start: January 18, 2009, 09:27:29 PM »

I'm pretty sure a few of you got out this weekend. I expect to hear at least a couple decent reports. Even if no fish were caught, the rivers have changed the weather was decent, there must be some good comments about your weekend. I for one did go down and scout out the Carbon on Saturday. Still much higher than I like it, but the visibility was getting decent. Lots of changes down here, but I love learning the new lays and trying to figure out which new runs will be producing steelhead as the river drops and clears. Wink

How was your weekend? Grin

went for a boat ride with my dad on the wynoochee friday morning.  made one cast in a back channel, went in the trees and broke off.  dad walks up and tosses it in the same spot while i'm re-tying, fish on!

he ended up getting about a 7# hatchery buck, and that was it.  not a bad day by any means, though.

No go for me Brian. Fished just below gold bar Sunday and while the water height is fine, something is still coloring up the water much more that I would've thought by now. (snow melt? A new slide? Anyone know?)

Took my mom's new husband fishing yesterday.  Hit the tail end of the queets brat run and didn't see much but it was indeed a 5 star day.   Took the cutoff on the way home and fished the nooch which looked perfect, but once again, failed to produce.  However, it was a great day hanging out and getting to know my new stepfather who, while he will never replace my dad, is a stand-up man.  Good times.  Oh yeah, I killed a stump with a .40 caliber!  That was cool although it took me 3 rounds to actually hit it  Huh

Note: NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, stop at Amanda Park Mercantile when you're REALLY hungry.  1 pound of joes and three burritos later by bowels are on fire as I type this..... Wink

Fished Friday and found a couple real nice fresh Nates, no pic's as it was in the boat and I didn't want to mess around with that.
Here's a pic of one a guy got that was with Swanny and me. Hatchery Buck, little more then a Brat.
Weighed in at 23.5 believe it or not. I'm tellin ya, that thing was a pig...

I was on the wynoochee yesterday and fished with more people than I have ever before.  The only time I had a little solitude was at first light but its not like its a zipper the nooch has always be popular.  Talk with a few locals and sounds like Saturday was the day to on the river.  All in all it was a great time fishing and you couldn't have asked for a beautiful day.
