It is with a heavy heart and a profound sense of loss that I tell you all of Brian's passing. He left us this morning at 8:30, peacefully, surrounded by his family. I feel an extreme sense of loss but know in my heart, that he is now fishing in a better place.
Brian's family extends a heartfelt thank you to all for your support and kind words during his battle with cancer.

Well put Dean, Brian will be missed by all.I know for one, I enjoyed the time I spent with him in the last few years both on and off the rivers. He has helped many become better steelhead anglers and has taught us all to respect and appreciate this incredible resource we all treasure. He will be missed, but not forgotten!
In Brians memory, I share this fishermans Prayer with all of you.
Fisherman's Prayer
Dear Lord I Pray Let me fish till that certain day, And when your net is cast into the deep I pray you find me fit to keep. When in your Home O'Lord I say, Forever may I fish and stay.
ED

Well put Ed. Dean and Brian's inner circle and family I am very saddened by your loss. Jonnyhook and I went and saw Brian Tuesday and it was difficult seeing my friend and teacher wasting away. I, too trust he is in a better place and will all need to remember the important things in life: faith, family, friends, fishing! In that order for me.
We are heading out now to the op and will be wearing our VB hats and dedicate this weekend to Brian's memory!
"Bobber down!!!" I'll hear him yell!

Sad news indeed...I was torn as to whether or not I should visit him this week, and finally decided I'd rather remember him sitting around the campfire laughing it up than remember him after this ordeal...and I hope he's sitting around a campfire laughing it up right now.
Fish on...

I'm sadly trying to muster happy thoughts of this being the beginning of the greatest fishing trip of all time for our longtime friend and founder of this site. I like to think BMac right now is saying hello to some long missed companions in the grandest home of all... Only to slip out later this afternoon in classic Mac style, string up the 8 weight and start flinging to the hardest charging steelhead ever created... for the rest of a sunshining eternity ! Your smile, patience and tireless enthusiasm will never be forgotten, thank you for being part of our lives. My prayers are with Karen and your family Brian.

Brian has now been reunited with his #1 fishing buddy Shimo who passed a few years ago.
I was at the hospital just about every day for the last week, and can tell you that he was not in any pain and he went peacefully.
The family was amazed with the outpouring of support from his fishing buddies, friends and coworkers. Thanks you all for keeping him and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Brian will surely be missed by all...
B-Mac has definitely made a profound impact on myself and our fellow fishing brethren. I can surely say he has been a part of shaping me into the steelhead fisherman that I am today. For that I cannot thank him enough.
Wherever you may be Brain... enjoy the sunshine and tight lines.

Brian will be missed by all, Although i never met the man, he is one of the anglers i truly wished to have met. What a stand up character who put others first before himself...... Brian you will be greatly missed, and may we meet one day in a better place. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of Brian's family. Atleast we know Brian went peacefully to a place where there are neverending fish and swisher sweets!

I'm at a loss for words right now. Hopefully I can muster up the clarity to type something later. To Brian's family, I've been, and will continue to pray for you.
