Headed up north on Thursday for a few days to fish out of Tofino for kings, coho, lings, and butts. I figured that I'd tangle with a summer run if there are any in the vicinity while everyone else is enjoying their afternoon nap. Any one know of any info?

This info is only what I have read in map books and fishing books, but it will steer you into the best options I have heard about.
Torquart River - summer runs, all wild, access via logging road from Torquart bay. Bait ban, most likely a very small run with no pressure.
Then theres the Stamp river which has had alot of summer runs last couple years and very little pressure really.
Thats a bit of a jaunt, couple hours, but hey its Steelhead.

Soxs arrive early to mid july, the opening will probably be around early August,but its a floss fishery and not one we partake in, we do get a few on the Chinook gear during the excellent August Chinook fishery.

they do bite, but people cant get past the fact that u wont catch as many, and u cant fish 25lb leaders with 3/0's.

I'm sure that's what it comes down to. Sounds like you have to just give them a chance to bite. |
