Well, it was actually the eggs I was after but I must say that we've got a real gem here every odd year on our south sound beaches.  What a hoot on light tackle!!!  I must say, after chasing steelhead all summer it was a nice change of pace to chase these stillwater slimers....  What a great time!  thanks, Moose, for your help and directions.  I can't wait to get my pontoon out there....  Cool to see new fishermen/ladies hook up for their first time....  What a fantastic way to get folks into fish.  We'll see how they smoke Huh

I actually got my "hump" on today as well.

Really slow fishing today in MA11... but still managed to hook into a few. Only saw a couple others caught.

Summer runs the rest of this week and from here on out till coho start coming.  Smiley

I fish them often from a less popular beach.  There has been less pinks than previous years, I've hooked more coho than pinks - which is great, but I'm on one of those streaks where I cannot seem to keep them on the hook...  I've been averaging a hook-up per 1-2 hr trip in the evenings.  Even when good sized schools of pinks have come by they haven't been biting???  Weird behavior for pinks, usually they're very responsive.  I'd like to get into some fast paced pink action, but the crowds I tend to avoid...
The fish don't fight well until you get them in shallow water then they put up a respectable tussle!  I can't wait until my kids are a bit older, 2011 I'll have my daughter out there with me!  Cool

BTW, I could use some eggs so if anybody wants to make a donation of their humpy eggs...   Grin

way cool FishPimp!

That beach looks pretty shallow/flat....  How deep did you have to wade to get into casting distance to reach the fish?

i am totally jealous.....  No pinks close down here in portland.   They are not the best table fare but sure are fun to catch.  eggs are a bonus too.

Nice report and it is a bunch of fun up there.

I was there twice earlier in the week and had great success fishing the last hr. or so of the ebb.  It seems once the tide changes, the fish go deeper.  Does it fish OK earlier in the tide?  I was thinking about heading up there tomorrow but the low isn't until late morning.

What does a guy do with all those humpies?  Ever since my troller days, when cleaning 300-400 per day was the norm, I can't even bring myself to club one. Grin Grin

we went out today. it sucked! alot of guys and hardly any fish. we caught one of 5 we saw all day. there were a few jumping out deep but nothing close.  we fished from 2 hours before low till about 1 hour after . maybe some came in later, i have no idea.

as for what we do with them, my buddy wanted to smoke them. if it was up to me i would keep a couple of hens and smoke them. then i give them to ranchers in montana for hunting rights{they don't know the difference, you can give them smoked chum that have almost white meat and they love it  laugh }

I was up there today for the last couple hrs. of the tide.  Not as many fish around as a week ago, but I managed to hook 6 and land 4.

I LOVE IT! I must confess I swore I would never fish for pinks as they get in the way of what I'm looking for on the river. BUT.... We took the boat out in the sound with the trout rods and had the TIME OF OUR LIVES!!!!!! It was SO fun to see my girlfriend fighting fish ALL morning on her tiny little pole. I had no idea they fought so hard in the salt. I've been accused of being picky about the taste of fish but they smoked up INCREDIBLE. The kids will eat it until they puke and they don't even usually like it. They stand by the fridge asking for more all day!
