I like the fies too. So far my favorite fly to cast on an 8 wt. are the bead eyes. I can make those sound like a drunk trying to whistle. Always good for someone to point and laugh...which is really good for my self esteem when trying to fish.

Anything Lime Green was working really well this year (especially my lime green/yellow rolled muddler).
I was also getting a number on "Mickey Finn" rolled muddlers.
I've been casting those dumbell head flies on my 6wt (only rod I have on the Island right now) quite effictivly actually.
It can get scary at times but I have found my casting to be WAY better than it was before consistantly casting those flies and only fly fishing strictly for the last month and a half.

So I got off my but last night and tied a couple of flies. I would like some feedback on what's working and what I need to work on. They are 3-color patterns that I thought should show up in the water that's been around me this week. I will test them fully tomorrow. Be gentle, I'm still new to this.

Yup, those should work. For chum also try tying up purple over pink or pink over purple.

good looking patterns to me....those will work big time accept when i use theys kinda flys i dont use the ones with the big weights on the head of them, i find it very hard to cast them right, so i use heavy sink tip to get them were i want them.

Yeah the heads do look big. The cone is large, but felt about the size as the dumbell eye which is a 3/15. Now for the water to just drop some more and hold on my days off...
