I was wondering i have had this okuma center pin reel for a while and i just never came around to using so now i think i want to get a rod for it and today at cabelas i saw a 15'6 okuma rod and i was wondering if it would be a good rod to start off with for floating for steelies ?

whats the line rating on it? the amount of weight it can cast? and the size of fish that you're after?

if i can make a suggestion, go with lami's 13' fter with sliding reel seats, it a good rod.

its like 4-8 lbs thats prolly not gonna work i would imagine lol, wear would you get that lami at ? like sport co or some outfit like that ? just trying to look for something thats not super spendy. looked on sport co web site and they only have 10'6 ones so far that i can see.

That okuma is a whip and would be fun for summer fish but thats a stretch.  I don't think it would handle heavier winter flows.  I've got both the G. Loomis 11'3 6-10 and the 13' 8-12.  If I didn't get great deals on the rods I have, I'd seriousy take a look at the Raven rods or have a Rainshadow built.  Something like the Raven IM6 11'6 6-12 or the IM8 13' 4-10 look interesting.  I'd prefer to see them in person first hand though.

i picked up that raven and shook it, its a pool stick! not good! i'd go with something betwen 10'6 and 12ft in a medium to medium light action rater 6-10, 8-12lb.
