You will really like the G3's, I have been using them for a year and half now. No complaints at all.

Cool if they're a boat boot... Hiking all day sucks in the G3's.

At any rate they are a vast improvement over the beaters they're replacing and they will last you forever to be sure.

Have a fun Winter in the new wheels.

i have two pairs of those hodgemans, with studded soles and felt.  One pair looks like those.  For the money, those hodgemans are great wading shoes.

Nice G3s

That is the way my hodgeman's looked when I went to a mid-priced pair of Cabela's wading boots. I get about 2 years out of them and they are really comfortable. The Hodgeman were good starters for me. Enjoy the rivers in your new boots. Grin

Ed,

Been wearing Patagonia Riverwalkers with Keen insoles in them going on three years now. They are THE lightest boot out there with great support, making 10 miles feel like 1.
Dardevle, Andrew(sounds like he just jumped ship back to Simms though Shocked), and I believe JDF also wear them.

Patagonia still has an "over the counter" warranty policy, which I take advantage of in the form of a new pair of boots every year. In contrast, Simms' warranty program took some big steps backward over the last couple of seasons ?

I still like and own some Simms stuff but if they don't back their products fair and square the only thing I'll be buying from them this season is those new, super cool/fancy $50 flip mitts. (Which I will be buying soon!)

I gave my heavily used G3's to a buddy of mine two seasons ago and they still look good... Like I said before, NWR's new purchase will literally last him forever.

i've got the simms guide boots and i really like them.  i don't fish many areas where there's the option of walking miles of river, it's more like going 150 feet down a steep gully or bushwacking though salmonberry thickets.  biggest fatigue factor is probably my waders -- cabelas guidewear.  breathable, but they're really stiff and heavy.  good for the thick stuff, not so great for miles of hking!

I just retired a pair of cabela's light weight boots that make those hodgeman's look like nice boots.  My right big toe was exposed, my left big toe was out of the boot and on the ground. Wink  I went to Cabela's for a pair of Simms, and ended up out the door with another pair of the light weights... all the Simms were only available in sizes for infants and giants.

Put a few miles on those bad boys eh? I've been wearing the same pair of Simms for 10yrs now although they feel like I'm wearing cinder blocks when hiking. Anybody have a good recommendation for some durable light weight boots w/studded soles?

I have the G4s (after a warranty swap for some torn up guide models) and love the comfort.  I got the new streamtread and studs and love them.  They weigh a ton, as Joe mentioned the G3's do.  Per Andrews recommendation I just ordered the Patagonia Riverwalkers as my hikers.  They are on clearance many places, and with a $50 gift card I had from Cabelas and one of their $20 off coupons I got them for $50 +tax.

I'm quite happy with my boot selection now!  New waders next year, either fathers day or birthday!

Those boots look pretty good, wish I'd seen em sooner. I picked up the Simms Rivershed last summer. Happy w/ em so far.
