Sweet. Those things look like track shoes compared to the clod-hoppers I'm using now. Note to self.

NWR,

The Simms studs are good and don't wear out easily. Considering the only places you will be screwing them in (max 8 per boot likely), you will have some left over for replacements.

GrizzlyA,

If you're looking for a nice lightweight pair and want to stay Simms go with the Headwaters boot and use the screw studs. They're relatively cheap compared to all the other brand/options.

Picked up some Patagonia canyon walkers a while back on the cheap at sierra trading post. 66 bucks. I like em, like Joe said, super lite.

I got a pair of Korkers for Christmas last year and put the spikes on 'em and have no complaints. I don't hike 10 miles but I also have never felt like I'm slipping.

I had Korkers before.  After about 1 season the removable sole started to slip out all the time.  almost took a swim once becuase of it.

Recently picked up a pair of Simms Guide Boots on closeout (in felt). Lightweight boots are preferable for most applications, but there's something to be said for a solid leather boot on the bad days (for "other" applications). I definitely give my full recommendation (with a lifetime guarantee from Patagonia) on the Riverwalkers, but the toe box seam will blow out eventually (how eventual depends on how adventural). I am completely sold on sticky rubber (in the proper situations, which are easy to predict).

When does my vacation start?

Ed,

Been wearing Patagonia Riverwalkers with Keen insoles in them going on three years now. They are THE lightest boot out there with great support, making 10 miles feel like 1.
Dardevle, Andrew(sounds like he just jumped ship back to Simms though Shocked), and I believe JDF also wear them.

Patagonia still has an "over the counter" warranty policy, which I take advantage of in the form of a new pair of boots every year. In contrast, Simms' warranty program took some big steps backward over the last couple of seasons ?

I still like and own some Simms stuff but if they don't back their products fair and square the only thing I'll be buying from them this season is those new, super cool/fancy $50 flip mitts. (Which I will be buying soon!)

I gave my heavily used G3's to a buddy of mine two seasons ago and they still look good... Like I said before, NWR's new purchase will literally last him forever.

I am currently on my 9th pair of River Walkers at this time, but what do I know I'm full of it. Oh, keep an eye out for a new boot in 2012 that will shock the aquatics world. I've been working with a very capable design team/manufacturer, in designing the boot of all boots. I would give more information, but I would be afraid of my post being deleted or blocked. Well I guess you guys will have to wait till 2012.

My Patagonia Riverwalkers are by far the best, lightest, most durable boot I've ever had.  Oh yeah, they are comfortable and fit well too!  It was the first boot that I could actually order my street shoe size and have them fit just right.  Most others I have to error big and then it feels like I take two steps before I move.  I will be buying another pair when the time comes.

JDF,
I don't recall "your" posts being blocked or deleted.  A thread, started by another member,  that was moving in a questionable direction was pulled.  You know the chance that a post about a wading boot getting deleted is about equal to the chance that you will be posting where you caught your last wild summer-run. Let's be real and let's be fair!

There are a few kinds of steelhead fishing; fly, float, drift, spoon, spinner, plugs, boondoggin, bobberdoggin,.... and then there is float fishing in 18\" of water.  Put that in your pipe and smoke it! Afro
