Thanks everybody. I caught it on a red-n-black jig I put on after some guys walking by said folks were getting them on red-n-black downstream. (Thanks guys!) Since I'm a disabled fisherman I can't be too secret about where I was; you can see the wheelchair ramp under the net in the pic. Hooked the fish about 50 feet out from the gate, played him out & downstream, around the end of the ramp and up the other side. I was using a telescoping aluminum 6-segment rod my wife's uncle used to fish lake trout with back in the day; it was pretty hard to pull apart after the strain of that 8-pound fish but I think it will live to fish another day. Myself I'm ready to go back NOW, if not sooner

Just before I got that one, I foul-hooked another one that turned out to have a big chunk bitten out of its side. My jig got caught in the wound. We were told it looked like a sea lion bite. A guy harvesting for us another time C/R'ed one with a big top & bottom bite in it that he said must be a shark bite. Sad for the fish but it's interesting to see what-all happens to them out there.
p.s. My wife is doing the typing for these posts, and she appreciated the "relationship" comment above.
