On the quest for big chrome steel

thompson fish, skeena watershed fish, coquihalla fish, chehalis fish, all summerruns. They close those systems down to fishing come december 31st. Why? To stop the by catch of wintering summer runs that are preparing to spawn.

Younggun please do your homework, lots of Skeena rivers are still open, Chehalis open, lower Coq open, there are very few that close in December. Our govt could care less about Steelhead, why else would they let guys  Angry catch steelhead in small streams of the Fraser Valley over and over and over, were talking pin cushioning a run of 200 fish maximum.
These steelhead from Idaho come from rivers that produce more hatchery fish in every river than we do in all of BC, why not let guys fish for these fish that barely are able to spawn successfully and should be taken out of the gene pool. Were talking hatchery mutants here so kill em and eat em or perhaps plant them in the garden.

In BC we spend BILLIONS on the Olympics and last year our minister of the environment proudly announced NO MONEY at all for Steelhead, zip nada nothing. Yet I am led to believe they are out to protect the wild fish with province wide blanket closures on wintering fish because YG says so.

sorry, thompson closes. Coquilhalla is closed above the first canyon, yes it does get winters, but the area where the summers winter over is shut down. Chehalis is open unfortunately, but we have not control over that. Many rivers in the skeena system do remain open, but many rivers also freeze over and become unfishable. What i'm getting at is the fact that wintering summer steelhead should remain un harassed, whether they be hatchery or not. Yes our BC gov. is a bunch of F*** tards, and have not taken the time to pull their heads out of their A$$'. A hatchery plan was brought up in order to be developed on the thompson, everyone voted no. Why not implant thousands of hatchery fish in all the wild steelhead streams, then everyone will be ablet to have a kill fishery everywhere.  Roll Eyes

I'm no caretaker, god's deciple, or gift to all steelhead fishing, i'm just someone that disagree's with catching booted up summer steelhead.

The bottom line here gentlemen is that, it is easy to say "if it ain't chrome it don't go home" when you live right by the salt. When you live as far inland as the fishermen in Idaho do, you have to enjoy what is in the river. As I said earlier, I have eaten lots of them smoked, but I have never brought one home. They are a blast to catch though and I will keep going back. When you think of how far those fish have traveled it is amazing how much fight they have left in them. Grin

Younggun- first of all you need to stop acting like a nube, thats all the people in Idaho get to fish. Typical nube status.

Thanks fellas...you've reduced this conversation to meaningless, and it's over.  great

To summarize, not all people think upper Columbia/Snake/Salmon steelhead are worthy of bleeding, and some say they are the sh*t.  Eat 'em or don't 'em...fish for 'em or don't, I don't give a sh*t.  Grin
