After a beautiful day of fishing, there is nothing better than finding your (or in this case, my buddy's) rig broken into . Aside from the damage caused to the rear slider, the thieves took a weird assortment of shiat. Here's what they took, let me know if it pops up on craigslist: - One rubbermaid tote (empty, without the lid
) - Two cam straps
- One shoe (left, sz 10, New Balance 525, very used)
- One set of keys (not to the truck they were in)
- Half a cup of coffee (Black, and yes, I am serious, they really drank a cup of coffee
 - An ashtray of change (nickels, dimes, quarters)
While this might look like a joke, I am not making this up... it is unbelievable what people (are tweakers really people???) will steal. The good news: wallets and phones were taken with us, NO GEAR LEFT IN THE RIG!!!! (other than my friend's straps!), it could have been a lot worse. What has the world come to when your rig gets broken into for some crap?

I might be able to help replace the coffee if I knew what river you were on, how many fish were caught and what gear the fish were caught on... Bummer deal.

That really sucks. Why the hell would people steal these items?
To understand these creatures I suggest we trap a few for scientific study. We could set up a box propped with a stick. Then bait it with pocket lint, an energy drink, and a half eaten twinkie.
Once we have learned the behaivors of these unique creatures we can find an appropriate, humane, method of extermination. Something like feeding them a supply of organic food, and grooming supplies. Either that or club them like fur seals.
WTF???

i guess i can feel lucky that i've never been hit. of course, my fishing car looks like something that you'd see a tweeker driving, so i figure they might not prey on their own kind(or so they think) bummer about the location though. with satko glen just across the river i can't say i'm terribly surprised. what weirds me out is that most of the break-ins on the satsop happen at the highway 12 launch, which is right in plain sight of everyone driving by.

...Either that or club them like fur seals.
I like this option. The only problem is you can't just throw the bodies in the river for nutrient value (They usually don't have much in the way of nutrients), and I think they might require hazmat training and special disposal. This makes it less cost effective, but still good family fun. ...bummer about the location though. with satko glen just across the river i can't say i'm terribly surprised...
It does surprise me. With Satko glen right there, why would any tweaker want to leave the glen? Was he exiled by the other tweakers? Did Satko run out of supplies to make meth? It was during the daytime, I thought tweakers only came out at night? I just don't get it, and Finfollower said it best, "WTF".

No doubt about the risk to the environment by throwing them back, but another option is using them as structural support for concrete work...Especially after a sound clubbing this new technique would be complete by changing the name from rebar to fubar!

Black F150 w/ matching canopy. Two german shepards. My truck got hit last October, but I took a little kindly advice and stopped my Magnum P.I. bit.
Strangely enough I had a wierdness down by Cook Creek a couple weeks back. I was walking at the bottom of the bank along the road when another truck pulled up behind me. Take into account it's a 300 yard parking area along this stretch of river. And I watched the truck roll up right behind my car. My basic thought was "Aw dang, not again" so I cut up the trail to the road and met the guy as he was getting out of his truck. He looked more like a carpenter than a fisherman, but we talked about the river and fishing for a while. Tan truck, business sticker on door, lumber rack.
Later on I was talking to a friend about it and I thought back about seeing the guy that took my stuff in October. I think it was the same guy. Or I could just be a paranoid freak. Hard to tell sometimes.

another thing, the radio stations out here have started playing a LOT of commercials for the local scrapyards, saying that the price of scrap is going up. something tells me that the target audience isn't exactly "honest folk"...
