So as the subject says I need help on deciding on a new rod. I;m looking at the GL3 1025C and the new steelhead series 1045C. I have used the GL3 and really like it, but when I started searching I ran into the 1045C and have not heard anything about this rod. From what I have read it is supposed to be lighter with a faster action and the most sensitive steelhead rod yet by G. Loomis.
If any of you have used the 1045C please let me know what you think of it.
Thanks in advance....

Lamiglas. If you're into sensitivity, get an xmg. For a fraction of the cost of loomis, better customer service, and just a better rod, IMO, it's a no brainer!!!!

Go with the 1045 but like cutts said I would go with a xmg too, there lighter, way way more sensitive, and a lot less $

I have had a lot of both Lamiglas and Loomis rods... Its true, Loomis has a more "Iron Clad" warranty. That said, I have never broken a Loomis and found out. I am very partial to my Lamiglas certified pros, esprits, and G1000 rods, even though ALL of them have been to the shop at least once (one has been there three times). If you like the feel of that 1045, get it... that should be the bottom line in your decision making process. One word of caution, that five on the end of that model number usually equates to something that is not going to be the most sensitive stick on the market. I like 1025's for no guess work games like spinner fishing, or plugs for silvers, but would not go that heavy for a drift rod. I wouldn't even need a rod with those specs for drift fishing for steelhead. Like I said before, its all personal preference. I don't know for sure the model number, but I am guessing something like a 1104 (9'2" 8-12) or 1163 (9'8" 6-12) would be a good compromise in specs for light weight and versitility for you... check out their website, as I am not going to for you! In any case, Good luck!

Lamiglasses warranty may have improved over the years. I busted one a few years back. The customer service was very lacking. They prescribed It was an UNWARRENTED break due to the fact that it was the lower end of the rod. The rod broke 4inches above the upper cork. That doesnt happen unless there was a manufactured defect.
The best they could do was to replace the lower section of the rod for 80 dollar's. Considering the initial amount I paid for the rod, I declined. I will never buy Lamiglass again!
And as result of that encounter, I would rather spend my money on the off brands, knowing that If I need a replacement due to breakage there customer service may be more accoutable!

I own both Lami and G Loomis and like them both.It is more of a personal thing than anything else since both are quality rods. Lots of good choices out there so go to your sporting goods store and pick them up and feel them. I have been very happy with my Cabelas fisheagle two also.I have owned several old Browning noodle rods that where lots of fun and much easier on the pocket book. As a matter of fact I have a new rod being built for me as I type. ; If you are dead set on a Loomis,I would recomend a 1084c for a casting rod or a 1082s for a spinning rod.

1141 GL2 ? I would take a hard look at other factory rods before springing for a G Shimano these days, with Lami and St.Croix being two top contenders. Or you could just buy three Fish Eagle, Berkley or Shimano rods with over the counter warranty policies for the same price as the "return to factory for repair/replacement" Loomis? Remember, Loomis rods don't read water or hook and land fish any better than other brands... But if I had a gun to my head and was forced to choose from a few, they would be (in order), GL3 1263, STR 1165 or STR 1163. Carry on.

Steelfan, Let me ask you a question... Lets say you have enough Benjis' to buy one of the two most exciting sports cars (IMO) out there...a new Ferrari 599GTB Fiorano and the new Chevrolet ZR1 Corvette...Both vehicles have similar performance and in the hands of an experience driver on the same test track can only better the other vehicle by .6 seconds...For a fraction of the cost of the Ferrari you can own a Corvette like the other 2500 Corvette ZR1 owners out there this year or you can own 1 of 500 worldwide....WOW where did that come from.....
With G Loomis you cannot go wrong in all aspects of your passion..I too have been looking @ the new Steelhead series rods, my old fishing partner has the 1044c and cannot quit talking about it! i am considering the same rod but in the "trout rod" setup the 1044s

Jamie, Life is short and as you have pointed out.............Get the good stuff! Period, Nuff said. Have not done a burn out like that in years but dang those where good old days. Can You say TOGA............. When it comes to float and jig,Bait divers, Plugs,Spinners and spoons,Side drifting etc etc..........................(you get the point) Rod sensitivity(Feel) does not mater as much BUT when it come to feeling the TUG while drifting........I Steel feel that my Loomis IMX is an advantage. I don't care what you all say,Mav and I agree on this one thing. (I still cant justify the $500.00 Spinning reels but hay thats why we all have our preferences......And budgets. FE.............
