Just got the word that Cabelas is going to open a new store in Springfield Oregon. Was just wondering what you all think about Cabelas. I have never been to one before so dont know much about what they have other then the online site. Do they have anything us steelheaders would really want? I have a feeling that over half of there fishing stuff is all bass junk. But I could be wrong.

I like their products.

But the girl at the return counter was very rude, when I tried to exchange a product for another.  I don't care for the double hit either, sales tax and shipping if I order thru the catalog.

they're alright.  don't have a lot of the "good" stuff that is in their catalogs(they push their brand pretty heavily).  the lacey store is improving their salmon/steelhead gear, you can thank gocougs for a good deal of that.

Well I hope they learn from the lacey store and improve there salmon/steelhead gear. Just hate going to a store that has 95% of stuff that I would never think about using. I will check out the new store when it opens but would rather give my money to my local tackle shop.

it was really funny to see the stuff they had when they first opened.  lots of illegal gear.  motorized duck decoys, cast nets, "snaggin' poles", etc.

I was real disappointed in the Lacey Cabelas, as well.  You might as well have visited the Sidney, NE store and would have found as much steelhead/salmon gear and driftboat accessories.  Other stores prices are lower, too.  On the other hand, you can't drag my wife and kids into a tackle store, but they like going to Cabelas for the clothing and general atmosphere of the place.  And where else are you going to be able to dig on a genuine ostrich burger?
