Hey Guys,
Tune in Saturday Morning 06:00-08:00 to NWwildcountry as we continue our Multi-Week Coverage of the Rise & Fall of Puget Sound Steelhead. We are going to spend a good amount of time covering the Puyallup Basin. Lot's of information to bring out, as I spent my week in meetings with Bio's and Fishery Managers from both WDFW and the Puyallup Tribe.
We will really break it down as to what is going on and perhaps, what the future holds. We will also have some key players involved in discussions, via the phone to our studio.
Tune in and get a History Lesson as well as an Education. NW Wildcountry, 950 KJR AM, or ComCastSportsNet channle 179. You can also stream it live @ www.kjr.com (Listen Live)
Also, click on over to the NWwildcountry Face Book page for the discussion board and add your thoughts and comments. We want to hear from you, the listener....

Even though I missed the real glory days of the Puyallup,I can still remember the early 80s when on a bad day you would see 3 steelhead caught on one drift and a dozen on a good day. We used to have an early run that would start around Thanksgiving and would peak around Christmas. Most guys back then only drift fished and would not waste much time covering water since it was not needed.I sure wish I had more TOW back then and had more experience. Grin
I may just have to tune in on this show. Wink

Here is an old picture I scanned in of those early days on the Puyallup for me. laugh laugh
Remember the old card you would carry in the wallet to measure the height of the Dorsal?

Nice driveway shot Ed!  Love it!

I've been doing my studying up on the history of hatchery programs on the puyallup system - very interesting stuff.  Believe it or not, they have been transporting HATCHERY chinook above electron dam to try to repopulate the upper river!  beef

Maybe someday we'll learn that we have a lot left to learn  Undecided

I'll be tuning in for sure.

get the fu***ng red skin's nets out and then lets see what happens, o could we see more fish yup we would. then get some control of the 2000 cormorants (fish eating birds) as well as the 400 mergansers and you might see a change, they cant come back if they never make it out.  and then get the stupid fu***ng WA st biologists to pull there heads out of there asses and get the f*** away from there desks get into the field with the fisherman and observe what we all have for the past several years. there is much more i could say but these Mean Bear Mean Bear are what i think are some of the key factors

this statement pertains to the Puyallup system

o you all have no idea i fuc**ing hate this ass backwards state let a fu****g net drift all the way down the god dang river killing every fish in its path. but yet reduce the sportsman seasons and put on tighter restrictions, yeah that's just fu****g great. But i wont find a excuse like building a hatchery down in the tidal waters so i can say we are raising the fish we catch. Well i guess it just goes to show why Indians are just fu****g dumb.. i hope they all go and choke on there fire water and die. but just keep killing every fish that is going up river to spawn and say we are not hurting the runs  fu****g retards.

rise and fall lets do the math it starts rite here a 8 lb bird that eats its body weight a day in fish x 1000 or more birds from top to bottom well there is one hell of an impact but lets protect the fu****g birds and choke out the sports man thank you  Washington st (wish i could get paid to be a complete f*** nut well i got the god dang flu so now i am  spent again so till next time.

it should read the rise and fall of fu****g retards!!!!!

Funny that this is coming from a guide that pimps out our systems... You should also be adding to your rant limited rod hour allocations to fully permitted and licensed guides.
