Ed,

No one including myself can fault you for your rant.  There is nothing, but truth in it.  No matter where you look or what your fishing resume includes, everyone talks about the unproportionate rights and privileges afforded to the Native Americans.  Despite this same voice, we lack people of power (both financially and politically) to get a ball rolling on this.  No matter how many petitions are signed, if there isn't an elected official or a person that has the finances to fund this fight, there will not be a change.  As sportsmen, I truly believe we are behind the eight ball with how much money the Native Americans contribute to our government. Check this article out http://www.seattlepi.com/local/366900_gregoire13.html.  Their casinos are a billion dollar industry and they need the nickel and dimes from selling fish.  Give me a break.

Edit. Place taxes on those casinos and the State would have a huge surplus of unexpected funds. WDFW would have a nice crop of dollars to start recovery of a lot of fisheries.

Taken directly from the article:

Depending on the number of tribes participating, the state could have received from $40 million to more than $140 million annually.

The money would have been dedicated to projects of "mutual importance to the state and tribes" such as Puget Sound cleanup, salmon protection, culvert expansion and transportation projects.

Oh yeah and don't try contacting her via Email to express your disgust with her policies

I am afraid that our "close to home fisheries" may come to a sudden Halt here soon. No hatchery returns/plants mean no fishing. Look at the Nisqually for an example(never had any hatchery plants but had enough Wild fish to actually sustain a fishery)..........Unless we can get the Dept of Fish and game to Plant/Seed the river(like they used to in the eighties) we are going to be Screwed on the local joint in to time flat.

It is going to be very hard for me to drive home on River road,While watching the nest out in full force(and I do mean in full force) to know that I cant participate in the catch.....or for that matter the catch and release while the "Nates" (speaking kindly here) fill their boats with targeted species and"By Catch" .................. evil

Definitely some issues to resolve in this state..............

I am pissed and there is no way to hide it. I am all for Wild steelhead, but all sides need to align or there is definitely a major problem. WE sportsman's have been taken to the cleaners as far as I am concerned and it is not getting better.

Sorry guys but the Puyallup river system is really close to my heart and I hate to see it all closed up by the end of December for the future...........I remember fishing in March and it was so nice to be able to float in short sleeves and really enjoy the river  minutes from home, but still having a chance at a trophy fish.........

Done with the rant,

ED

I hear ya Ed, back in the days my dad used to get me out of school early to fish the Puyallup in March. Just a half day float from the dollar hole to the bmx. Man that was good fishing. I miss them days. The end of December closure is a joke, if they are gonna do that, then close the carbon and upper Puyallup as well. It seems ass backwards to me, why not close the upper reaches early and leave the lower open? Isn't that where the nates are going? The upper reaches? Don't get me started on the Nisqually, the tribe was solely responsible for wiping out that run. They were netted illegally and sold illegally, they sure proved to be stewards of the resource on that one, they were just greedy S.O.B.'s. Roll Eyes My dad told me stories of the Nisqually back in the 80's, I sure wish I could have fish that stream during the good days. The Nisqually is where he learned to row his drift boat.

Well some one tell me how we can have so many nations within nations are we not all suppose to be equal, doesn't are law count for something, HELL NO we are ran by a chicken shiat gov that says they care about the environment  but they are continuing to take money and get influenced by the red's(Indians). well i am going to agree with RB,Ed,cohokilla. i think the best thing we can do is start a war not what you are thinking, but we as sportsman need to take are complaints to Olimpia not the internet if we are going to be heard that's are only chance until we get bill gates for financial backing  Smiley  i my self am a victim of internet rants we all need to be herd i am  all in but we need every one to go raise hell at the capitol. im done i am getting pissed off now

Sounds like a fishermans riot in Olympia?  Wink I am just enjoying my time spent on the water after these creatures knowing theres a decent chance at hooking up with them because with the current practices being done to "manage" or "protect" native steelhead, I don't see them being around in another 50yrs or so. With the exception of possibly some Bogachiel or cowlitz hatchery turds. Best get a decent paying job to afford an annul trip to northern BC.  Undecided
