If you could only take five jigs with you for summer runs, which five patterns would you take? Let's not have a lot of discussion here, just list your top five summer run jigs! Grin

If I had to choose 5 jigs for sunburns they'd be:

"steelers special" - all black with fine gold rib
GBS
nightmare
peach rabbit
white/cerise or white/pink (tie)

Pink/Black Marabou
Pink/Black Marabou
Pink/Black Marabou
Pink/Black Marabou
Maybe a Nightmare Pattern if I'm feeling different

Honestly I don't think it matters. If fish aren't hitting Jigs I'd say you're better off switching techniques than colors. Plus I'm usually looking for aggressive fish and it hasn't seemed to matter what we use.

I would agree with you most of the time Matt, but I am a BIG believer in switching colors if you've spotted a fish and it won't move for your tried and true pattern. I have witnessed this too many times to not be convinced that switching colors or sizes or both can trigger a strike from a spotted fish. Next time you spot a fish and it won't take your favorite jig, change up and give a few extra casts, you may be surprised! Grin Grin Grin Grin

I'd say my top five are:

Any combination of pink and cerise and white early in the season (either marabou or rabbit fur).

Later in the season I go with olive and brown...more buggy looking stuff, (again in marabou or rabbit fur).

#1...Pink
#2...Pink & cerise
#3...Pink and white
#5...peach
#5...Olive & crawdad brown

Rather than get hung-up on certain colors.....I prefer to mix it up in the summer.

If I had to make a stand: I'd say plain red and plain black.....boring but EFFECTIVE!
