I really like the Drennans.   I use both the 11 & 20 gram models.  Nice floats. Spendy, but nice.

I have tried the splitshot weighting system the past 2 seasons and I'd say its pretty nice.  you really need to use a longer rod w/ it however.

I do almost exactly what Zonker wrote. Home-made dinks. Bigger with weight in them in winter. Smaller no weight in summer.

Jeff,

Give the #2 Beau Mac Cheaters a try. They cast better than the corks with very light jigs. The casting limitation is the main reason I prefer them over cork.

I recognize the aerial bobber hanging style that Johnnyhook is so good at. Here locally we refer to it as the steeple cast. Several of my grandsons have it down pat. Its a good thing I make my floats or buy 'em cheap.

Won't be long and you will have ushered Johnnyhook through his apprenticeship and you'll be able to start enjoying the fruit of your patience and labor. You'll also be able to look forward to the time when he can take you fishing. Seems like it wasn't that long ago that my youngest son was following me around in my fishing adventures. Today he calls me occasionally and wants to take me. Schweet.

I have used the "Steelhead Stalker" floats the past couple of seasons with good success. The are long pencil style with rubber bands to attach the line. They ride high in the water and adjust for depth very easily. They have a long tail which telegraphs what the jig is doing, ie: dragging one way or the other. Pretty affordable as well. If the water is real cold I will switch to a more round style. The round floats bob up and down more and give your jig more action.

Green River (King Co.) is in good shape today, high but good color. Should be good for Chums.
